It is part of the 76 production subzones of Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba which were catalogued and mapped in the mid-80s. The Sorì take their name from the Piemontese word “Solatio”, meaning “exposed to the sun”, and have always been recognised as the best hills for vineyards.
The lean and dry soil is light in colour, indicating an extensive presence of limestone and good drainage. The land is shallow and made up of layers of more or less compact sands alternating with grey sandstones (sands compacted and cemented by marine water carbonates).
It is set at an altitude of 350 m above sea level with mainly south-westerly exposure. The slope is steep and is caressed by sea winds that blow in from the Ligurian Alps.
Our vineyard occupies almost all of the Sorì and is divided into six parcels, all planted with Dolcetto. The total surface area is four hectares. Each parcel of land was planted in a different year, mainly with clones CN22, CN69 and CVT 8, as well as a fair number of old clones obtained from mass selections. The oldest parcel is Garabei, which was already planted before the purchase of the farmhouse in 1968.
